Police nab five extortionists

Kohima, Jun 3 (UNI) Dimapur police have arrested five extortionists, including two girls, from the Burma Camp area of Dimapur town.

Official sources said here today that five people were engaged in extortion activities for quite some time.

Police with the help of local people apprehended the extortionists last evening.

However, one of the accomplices of the gang managed to flee.

Police recovered one .32 pistol and five rounds of live cartridges of 7.65 caliber from their possession.

A case has been registered against them.

In a separate incident, Kohima police arrested one woman and recovered a US-made 7.65 (automatic) pistol and one magazine with three live rounds yesterday.

The woman hailed from Khumji village under Tamenglong district of Manipur.

A case has been registered under the Arms Act and investigation was on, sources said.
