Nepal king's ouster unconstitutional: Singhal
Mumbai, Jun 3 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad International President Ashok Singhal today said that the ouster of Nepal's King Gyanendra is unconstitutional and that Chinese, Americans and United Nations were responsible for the act.
Speaking at a press conference here today, Mr Singhal said that ouster of the King is equal to killing of Hindu identity in the country that has more than 92 per cent of Hindu population.
''The Chinese have forced themselves on Nepal, like they did in Tibet and the Americans are supporting the act. It is dangerous to India as Nepal and India have a common border which will make the access easier,'' Mr Singhal said.
Mr Singhal asserted that rather than being dethroned, King of Nepal could have been a ceremonial figure as in countries like England, Japan, Holland and Spain. ''Why did the UN and USA have problems with the King of Nepal when other countries don't?'' Mr Singhal asked.
Speaking about Maoists, Mr Singhal said that the UN was taking care of more than 19,000 Maoists, who have so far killed more than 17,000 Nepalese and have spread a reign of terror in Nepal which has influenced the elections in Nepal.
''As many as 220 people elected in Nepal are Maoists, who have been elected on the basis of terror that was unleashed in Nepal,'' Mr Singhal added.
The VHP leader also asserted that Nepal was a Hindu country and will remain the same and the number of Christians and Mumslims has increased in Nepal in the last 15 years and has reached the proportion of almost 8 per cent of the total population.
''There are more than 6,000 churches and more than 26,000 NGOs working in Nepal and so far more than 8 lakh people have been converted into Christianity there and they have a reserve funds of more than Rs 12,000 crore, that is given to people who get converted, provided by the western countries,'' Mr Singhal informed.
