MP Meena Community demands ST status
Indore, Jun 3 (UNI) A rally was staged by the Meena community members to demand Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and other reservation facilities here today.
Under the banner of Reservation Struggle Committee, the rally was carried out from local Gandhi statue to Divisional Commissioner Office and a memorandum was also handed over.
Committee President Bharat Meena said that there were 40 lakh community people in 35 districts of Madhya Pradesh which were illiterate and unemployed. Hence, they should brought in mainstream by providing it ST status similar to Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
He said that only Sironj and Lateri districts Meena community members were enjoying the ST status in Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Meena also requested Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to recommend Centre to provide them ST status for the betterment of community.
