DD Chandigarh director Ashraf Sahil is no more

Srinagar, June 3: Director Doordarshan, Chandigarh, Ashraf Sahil passed away at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura last night.

Sahil a noted academician and poet was 59.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and several other political, social and religious leaders have expressed grief over the death of Mr Sahil, who headed DD, Srinagar and Radio Kashmir Srinagar for several years before his transfer to Chandigarh.

Family sources said Sahil was to retire next month.

Sahil, first among the news readers on DD, Srinagar, had undergone a surgery in New Delhi recently.
