Businessman rescued by police in Dimapur

Kohima, June 3 (UNI) A businessman who was kidnapped by three gunmen in violence-torn Dimapur town, was rescued by Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel at a Motor Vehicle Check Point on the Army Supply Road in Signal Basti.

Official sources said three gunmen yesterday came in an autorickshaw and barged into the residence of the businessman on the Kalibari Road and took him away in his car.

When challenged by some IRB personnel at the Motor Vehicle Check Point, they rushed out of the vehicle and escaped.

The IRB personnel rescued the blindfolded businessman and recovered an AK-47 rifle along with 38 rounds of live cartridges from the vehicle.

Police registered a case and investigation was on to ascertain the identity of the abductors, sources said.
