Advance information on weather must to help farmers:ANGRAU
Hyderabad, Jun 3 (UNI) Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Vice-Chancellor P Raghava Reddy today emphasised the need for advance information on weather forecast to take management decisions to minimise climate-related crop production risk for the benefit of the farming community.
After launching the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)-funded project 'Farmers Managing Climate Related Crop Production Risk in Andhra Pradesh,' he said weather extremes like drought and cyclones should be predicted well in advance for the benefit of the farming community.
The project, which is collaborated by India Meteorological Department, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and Hyderabad-based Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), will be implemented in Warangal and Mahboobnagar Districts of Andhra Pradesh from ensuing Kharif 2008, a press release here said.
