Bopaiah appointed as Protem speaker
Bangalore, Jun 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator K G Bopaiah has been named as the Protem Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly until new Speaker is elected by the House.
Mr S B Patil, Secretary Karnataka Legislative Assembly, in a communique issued here today, said that Governor Rameshwar Thakur has appointed Mr Bopaiah as the Protem Speaker and he will continue in the office till new Speaker is elected.
The Governor has also convened a two-day session of the Legislative Assembly on June Four and five during which period the newly elected MLAs would take oath.
The Protem Speaker Bopaiah will administer the oath to the newly elected 224-members.
