Maoist ultras bomb railway tracks, SDO office in Bihar

Jamui, Jun 02 (UNI) Proscribed CPI (Maoist) guerrillas blew up a portion of the railway tracks between Narganjo and Ghorparan station under Jhajha-Jassideeh section of Eastern Railway (ER) near here, disrupting train services for several hours today.

ER sources said the powerful explosion, executed by the ultras late last night, uprooted about three feet of the tracks and some concrete sleepers.

The insurgents also fired indiscriminately on the guard's coach of the Purvanchal Express passing through the route. However, there was no report of any casualty so far.

Divisional Railway Manager of Asansol division B Deva Singh and Jamui Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar reached the spot and technical manpower, including Railway Engineers, were deployed to repair the damaged tracks for the restoration of train services in the section, sources informed.

A report from neighbouring Munger district said the ultras also blasted the SDO's and CDPO's office, destroying official documents and property, and looted foodgrains from an FCI godown during the 24-hour bandh called in five districts of East Bihar by the outfit since last night.
