Freedom fighter Pandit Rajaram Pandey passes away

Jaipur, June 2: Freedom fighter Pandit Rajaram Pandey passed away at his ancestral residence after a prolonged illness in Machlishehr tehsil area here late last night.

He was 85.

He was not keeping well for last three months. Yesterday his condition deteriorated and he breathed his last at his native village Belwar.

Rajaram was a hardcore Gandhian and followed the path of 'Ahinsa'.

He took active part in the '1942 Quit India Movement', during which he was sent to jail for two years.

He was cremated with full State Honour on the banks of river Ganga in Allahabad.

Arunachal Pradesh's former governor Mata Prasad, Cultural minister for state Subhash Pandey, former Union Home Minister Krapashankar Singh and Garhwal's MLA Seema Dwivedi expressed profound grief over the demise of the freedoM fighter.
