Indian and Chinese Army officers meet at Bum La

New Delhi, Jun 2 : Officers manning the border units of Indian Army and Chinese Army met at Bum La in Arunachal Pradesh.

The meeting commenced with the Indian Delegation receiving the Chinese delegation and was followed by a formal interaction between the two sides.

The Indian Delegation leader extended felicitations and warm greetings to his Chinese counterpart and also conveyed heartfelt grief on the loss of life due to the earthquake in China.

During the interaction both delegations reaffirmed their resolve to maintain peace and tranquillity along the border.

The Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) between India and China is a positive step in strengthening the relations between the two neighbours of Asia, who are also the world's two oldest civilisations.

The event affords opportunity to the Indian Army and Chinese Army to interact in an atmosphere of cordiality and discuss functional issues.

The BPM is conducted every year in the month of May and has been conducted at Bum La since 1999.
