EC to provide photo identity cards to all voters in AP

Hyderabad, Jun 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) I V Subba Rao today said the Election Commission (EC) was taking steps to provide Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to all the eligible voters by August this year.

Addressing a press conference after announcing the bypoll results for the 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats here, he said the Commission would display the voters list in all public places like banks, post office and government offices to verify the names of the voters. If any mistakes were found by the voters they could immediately report to the officials concerned to correct it.

Referring to complaints made by several voters, who could not vote in the bypolls as their names were missing from the electorol list, he said it was the right of every eligible voter to exercise his/her franchisee in the elections.

He said all complaints would be looked into and corrective measures would be taken immediately.

Expressing his happiness over the peaceful conduct of elections, he said there were no complains from anywhere during the polling and also during the counting of votes for the 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats.
