Verma gets bail, not to leave country without prior permission
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has granted bail to Naval War Room Leak accused Abhishek Verma on the condition that he will not leave the country without prior approval from the trial court.
While granting bail to Verma here yesterday, Justice S Murlidhar directed the accused to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh and two sureties of the like amount. The court also directed Verma to surrender his passport and imposed stringent conditions for his bail.
Verma, a Delhi-based businessman and the son of former MP Veena Verma was in judicial custody since July, 2006, for his alleged involvement in the leaking of classified documents from the Naval operations here.
Allegations against Verma are that he along with his associates including Kulbhushan Parashar and Ravi Shankaran, and some senior Naval Staff entered into a conspiracy and leaked classified information to some foreign source.
Directing the trial court to complete the arguments on charge before September 3, the court directed Verma to appear before the CBI on every second and fourth Monday of every month, and to furnish his present address to the court.
