Daughter-in-law nabbed for killing woman

Hoshiarpur, May 31 (UNI) With the arrest of three persons, including two women, police today claimed to have solved a blind murder and robbery case wherein the body of an old-aged woman was found at her residence at local Mohalla Tibba Sahib on May 21.

SSP, Hoshiarpur, Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill told reporters here that deceased Harpreet Kaur, wife of Harbhajan Singh, was allegedly strangulated to death by her daughter-in-law Balwinder Kaur, alias Lovely, wife of Rajinder Singh, latter's sister Parminder Kaur and her paramour Manpreet Singh.

Deceased Harpreet Kaur was found strangulated to death at her residence in the morning of May 21. The robbers had decamped with all the valuables, deceased Harpreet Kaur's mobile, cash and jewellery lying there before leaving the house.

Taking grave concern over this sensational murder, a team headed by SP (D) Sushil Kumar was constituted to work out the case. They suspected involvement of some family members. They came to know that a day before the killing of Harpreet Kaur, her younger daughter-in-law Balwinder Kaur's sister Parminder Kaur along with her daughter Amanpreet Kaur, alias Heena visited the house of the former to inquire the health of Rajinder Singh, who was admitted in a de-addicition centre.

It also came to light that on that evening Balwinder Kaur and Amanpreet Kaur along with Manpreet Singh and Amrinder Singh of Malout, who had a criminal background and were wanted a number of cases including an attempt to murder case.

When police nabbed Manpreet, he confessed his involvement in the murder of Harpreet Kaur. He revealed that he had illicit relations with Parminder Kaur, wife of late Pritpal Singh of Malout for the last two-and-a-half-year. Parminder Kaur offered him Rs 2 lakh, if he murdered or got killed her sister Balwinder Kaur's mother-in-law.

On May 20, Balwinder Kaur mixed sleeping pills in the milk of her mother-in-law and the accused strangulated her with a handkerchief after she fell unconscious.

To mislead the police, before leaving the house they took gold ornaments , 75000 cash, Hapreet Kaur's mobile phone from the Almirah and also broke bolt of the door.

Balwinder Kaur and Parminder Kaur confessed to their crime and the former told that her mother-in-law used to pick up fights with her daily, the SSP, said adding that raids were being conducted to nab Amrinder Singh.
