Court disposes of 52 cases, sentencing 100 persons

Patna, May 31 (UNI) Altogether 100 persons where sentenced in 52 cases, disposed of by different courts of Patna district during May.

Incharge Public Prosecutor of Patna Jai Prakash Singh said here today that the maximum number of cases were disposed of during May, since the commencement of the speedy trial in February, 2006.

Mr Singh said according to the judgements pronounced by the court, 19 persons got life imprisonment, three got ten years rigorous imprisonment and the rest 78 people were awarded with punishment of less than ten years.

The cases in which the judgements were delivered included murder, dowry death, kidnapping, abduction for ransom and Arms Act, he informed.

Mr Singh said sensitive cases, including abduction of Shwetangi and Uttam, were also disposed of during the period, in which seven people were awarded life imprisonment.
