Anti-naxal force to be strengthened: CM
Hassan, May 31 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the anti-naxal force formed to curb the growing naxal elements in Shimoga, Udupi and Chikmagalur districts would be strengthened soon.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to a village in this district to console the victims of a lorry accident in which 40 persons were killed on Thursday, he said the government would curb the growth of naxal movement in the state at any cost.
Modern ammunition and other facilities would be provided to ANF, he said.
He also announced solatium of Rs one lakh each to two people who were killed by naxalites near Sitanadi in Udupi district recently.
Mr Yeddyurappa said the BJP government would give top priority to irrigation projects and drinking water schemes, besides increasing power generation in the state.
Instructions had been given to government officials for implementing the programmes and policies for the needy in a proper manner.
Minister R Ashok accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to the district.
