TN: 1 lk defence civilian employees on leave

Chennai, May 30: More than one lakh defence civilian employees today went on leave en masse and staged a demonstration in protest against ''adverse'' recommendations made by the Sixth Pay Commission.

A release from the All India Defence Employees Federation here said the agitation was held in front of the defence establishments all over the country.

The agitation was to oppose the adverse recommendations and demand the implementation of others, after incorporating various modifications suggested by the federation.

It said about four lakh defence civilian employees working in Ordnance factories, DRDO, DGQA and other Army, Navy, Air Force Units were dissatisfied with the recommendations and had also submitted a memorandum to the Defence Minister A K Antony this month detailing their demands.
