MFO terrorists held in Meghalaya
Shillong, May 30 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, the Meghalaya Police and Sikh Regiment troops arrested two Muslim Fundamental Organisation(MFO) activists yesterday.
The security forces also seized a revolver, rifle and army combat dresses from them.
Based on specific information, an operation was launched in Phulbari area in West Garo Hills district, bordering Bangladesh, which resulted in the apprehensions.
The duo have identified themselves as Muslim-ud-din and Rashid Ali of Mancachar in Assam.
According to preliminary interrogation, the two revealed they had been frequently operating in the guise of security force personnel in the area.
Army officials said the fundamentalist organisation was trying to malign the image of security forces by terrorising the common man and carrying out extortion in the guise of security force personnel.
