IGNOU may take up extension projects for improving food quality
New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) may take up extension projects for improving safety and quality of food available through street food outlets, as desired by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
An IGNOU spokesperson said the objective is to educate, train and in-place hygienic conditions at the food outlets in the unorganised sector.
''The institutionalisation of good hygienic practices will ensure availability of wholesome food to the consumer and ensure minimum risk to public health,'' he added.
This was announced at the three-week refresher course on Food Safety conducted by QCI in partnership with IGNOU for college and University teachers recently.
