Minister urges to bring Ordinance for ST students
Thiruvananthapuram, May 29 (UNI) Kerala Minister for Welfare of Backward and Scheduled Communities, A K Balan today said he had recommended to the Education and Health Ministers to bring in an Ordinance to protect ST students who were forced to go out from Medical Colleges, failing to score 40 per cent marks in entrance examinations.
''If any legal battles were required to get justice to these students the Government will take it as a challenge,'' he told reporters, addressing a press conference in connection with the second anniversary of the LDF Government in the state.
However, there were lot of legal proceedings for bringing in an Ordinance as the Medical Council had fixed the criteria on the basis of a Supreme Court verdict, he pointed out.
