Infosys to invest Rs500 crore in Orissa

Bhubaneswar,May 29 (UNI) Infosys would invest Rs 500 crore in Orissa to create employment opportunties for 5000 IT professionals in the state.

Infosys Human Resource Director T V Mohan Das Pai told this to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik when he called on him here today.

Mr Pai also told the Chief Minister during the meeting to recruit 700 software engineers at its Bhubaneswar Development centre during the current year.

Official sources here said the government targetted to raise the export of softwares to Rs 2000 crore by 2011-2012 from Rs 850 crore during 2007-08.

After the meeting, Mr Das told newspersons here that during the meeting he had requested the Chief Minister to provide 50 acres of land in Bhubaneswar to set up its own SEZ.

The team members which came under the leadership of Mr Pai also discussed the issue of development of health care system, expansion of employment opportunities, capacity building of youths and the way to provide all facilities in rural areas through information technology was also discussed.

The Chief Minister requested Mr Pai to help set up a one thousand bed heart care hospital in Bhubaneswar by the Narayanan Hrudalaya of Bangalore.

Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, Special Secretary to Chief Minister B K Patnaik and Secretaries of Industries, Labour, Women and Child wlfare, Information technology were among others present at the meeting.
