Bijepur MLA suspended for sexually harassing a lady

Bhubaneswar, May 29 (UNI) Bijepur MLA Subal Sahu was today suspended from the Congress party following allegations of sexual harassment.

Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee(OPCC) President Jaydev Jena suspended Mr Sahu from the party with immediate effect.

One Rihana Begum of Barpali in an FIR in Barpali Police station recently alleged that Mr Sahu had raped her after she refused to have physical relations with him.

Mr Jena had constituted a three-member committee with Deputy leader of Opposition Narasimha Mishra as Chairman to inquire into the allegation and submit a report within a week.

The other members of the committee were former Social Welfare Board Chairman Sabitri Choudhury and OPCC Vice-president Amar Pradhan.

Mr Jena said disciplinary action would be taken against Mr Sahu after the Committee submitted its report.
