HC grants anticipatory bail till May 2009 to Raninder Singh

Chandigarh, May 28 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court, while granting virtual blanket anticipatory bail to petitioner Raninder Singh, son of former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, today directed the Punjab Government to give four working days' notice to him, in case he was required to be arrested or questioned in connection with any case in the future.

The division bench of Justices M M Kumar and Sabina, while disposing of Raninder Singh's plea, directed that the present relief would remain in force till May 30, 2009.

Raninder Singh had alleged that he apprehended his implication and arrest in some false case at the hands of the present Shiromani Akali Dal(Badal)-led regime in Punjab due to political vendetta and sought interim blanket bail with advance notice of at least a week, if he was to be arrested or questioned in any case in the future by the Punjab police, vigilance bureau or any other state agency.
