Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 28 (UNI) The officials of the city crime branch police and Income Tax (IT) department raided a courier agency at Aurangpura area of the city and seized unaccounted cash of Rs 24 lakh.

Acting on specific information that 'hawala' money was being sent through Kantilal Courier Agency to various cities, a team of crime branch sleuths and IT officials raided the agency last night and found 19 people counting bundles of notes amounting to Rs 24 lakhs. When police questioned them, they could not give any satisfactory answers about the source of the funds, police said today.

The team had seized the amount along with a machine used for counting notes and a computer. Nineteen persons, reportedly local traders, were detained.

''It was not clear as to how and who brought such a big amount at the Agency and for what purpose. It will be improper at this stage to term this as a case of 'hawala,'' the sources said, adding, further investigations are on.
