Central University to be set up in Visakhapatnam: Minister

Visakhapatnam, May 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development D Purandhareswari today asserted that the Central University, announced by the Centre, would be set up in the city.

Unveiling a statue of her father late Chief Minister N T Rama Rao on the occasion of his 86th birth anniversary here, she scotched rumours that the varsity would be shifted to Kadappa.

The Minister, who turned emotional, remembered the great influence her father had wielded on the masses, who in turn loved and supported him throughout his career as an artiste and politician.

The programme was organised by NTR Kalaradhan Peetham under the honorary presidentship of former Rajya Sabha member and State Hindi Academy Chairman Prof Y Lakshmi Prasad.
