150 gamblers arrested, Rs 6.88 lakhs seized
Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) City police have arrested as many as 150 gamblers and seized Rs 6.88 lakhs, during a raid on three gambling dens, operating at Ghatkopar in north-east Mumbai.
Acting on a tip-off that illegal gambling dens, using the license of Shalimar club, were in operation, officers of Social Service branch of city police raided the three clubs at J T Road, Ghatkopar (east), last night.
The owner Mohamed Hafiz along with his employees and the gamblers, indulging in card games, were arrested.
Besides the seizure of cash, police also seized documents showing gambling entries.
All arrested have been booked under the Gambling Act as well as the Bombay Police Act.
