Land must be given back to farmers in Singur

Kamarkundu, May 26, 2008: Mamata Banerjee, chief of regional Trinamool Congress party, addressed a public rally in India's eastern Singur on Sunday May 25, after her party won the recent local body polls.

At Singur, 1,000 acres of fertile land belonging to farmers was allegedly acquired by the Communist led government in West Bengal state without the consent of the farmers for handing over to Tata's for a passenger car project.
