TDP to provide Rs 500 per month as old age pension: Naidu
Sanga Reddy, Andhra Pradesh, May 27 (UNI) Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the old age pension would be increased to Rs 500 from Rs 200 per month if his party was voted to power in the Assembly elections next year.
Addressing a public meeting on the last day of the campaign at Dommata for the byelection to be held on May 29 in 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats, Mr Naidu said free tenement would be provided to the poor by constructing houses at the cost of Rs one lakh.
Alleging that the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) was 'playing games' with the Telangana issue and there was no use if the TRS got majority in the election, he said free power would be supplied to the poor once the TDP assumed charge in the state.
Urging the backward classes, minorities and artisans to vote in for the TDP, Mr Naidu alleged that though the state government's income had increased, it had failed to take up development programmes.
