IPS Officer moves HC against GU decision
Ahmedabad, May 27 (UNI) DIG Rajnish Rai today moved the Gujarat High Court against the decision of the Gujarat University to fail him in the first year LLB examination.
Unfair Means Committee of the University had on Sunday declared Rai guilty of copying in the examination and declared him fail in all subjects of the examination.
Rai took the stand that the University did not provide him evidence despite the High Court's direction. Mr Rai was recently transferred to Junagadh Police Training School.
The Committee found him guilty under GU rules and declared him failed in all subjects he appeared for this year. He can appear for examination next year.
On April 25, a supervisor at Siddhartha Law College of Gandhinagar found that something was scribbled on the footrule of Rai while answering a first year LLB paper. His answer sheet was taken away and he was allowed to write again after half an hour.
On April 29, Rai had denied reports that he was caught ''copying''. He had said that he was not booked for copying by any university official, and that the charge was completely baseless and false. He had said the footrule in question was scribbled by his six-year-old son and it had nothing to do with the examination.
The 1992 batch IPS officer has many controvertial cases to his credit. He had arrested D G Vanzara and two other IPS officers in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
