First Indian delegation to attend Berlin Air show
Kolkata, May 27 (UNI) A high-level Indian delegation, led by Defence Minister A K Antony and accompanied by Air Chief Marshal F H Major, will attend the Berlin Air Show in Germany from May 27 to June one.
Defence sources said here today that Mr Antony and the Air Chief Marshal visited the Berlin Cemetry on May 26 to pay homage to the Indian soldiers, who died during the World War-II.
The delegation comprises top bureaucrats, including Ministry of Defence Production Secretary Pradeep Kumar, Director General Acquisition S K Sharma and Additional Secretary Defence Production Ajoy Acharya.
The sources informed that Germany was keen to provide high profile eurofighter 'Typhoon' aircraft, manufactured by European Consortium EADS, to the Indian Air Force.
India is the official partner country of the Berlin Air Show and the delegation had been officially invited by German Defence Minister Dr Jung, the sources added.
A large number of public and private enterprises from India, including the DRDO, HAL, BEL, BDL, BFML, OFB, ISRO, L&T and Tata Group, are participating in the Air Show.
''Sarang'', the IAF helicopter aerobatics display team, will also perform at the Air Show.
