Father, 3 sons handed down death penalty

Mirzapur, May 27: A man and his three sons were sentenced to death for committing a second murder here.

The perpetrators of the crime were awarded life imprisonment for a murder committed earlier.

According to the prosecution, childless Brahmdeen of Vindhyachal area had named a piece of land to his brother-in-law Kedarnath's sons.

However, one Basantlal of Bhaidpur, prepared forged documents of the land in Kolkata, they said.

Due to the dispute, Basantlal along with his three sons -- Lalji, Gyan Prakash and Om Prakash -- hacked to death Kedarnath on November 16, 1994.

For this crime, a local court had handed down life term to the guilty quartet, but after being released on bail, they murdered elderly Brahmdeen on November 26,1998.

Hearing the case yesterday, Judge B D Verma sentenced the accused father and sons to death.

In the last one decade, it was the third capital punishment in the district.
