Cabinet recommends lifting of President's rule in Karnataka

New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today recommended lifting of President's rule in Karnataka to enable constitution of the newly elected assembly and formation of a government.

The Cabinet met this evening briefly and decided to request the President to revoke the proclamation under article 356 of the Constitution placing the state under the central rule, an official spokesman said.

President Pratibha Patil, who is in Shimla, is expected to approve the Cabinet decision later tonight.
