Cong wins 2 seats, Bhajan's HJC reduced to Adampur
Chandigarh, May 25 (UNI) Countering the challenge by former chief minister Bhajan Lal's Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC), the Congress today won two of the three assembly seats in Haryana where bypoll was held while the HJC could bag only Adampur seat.
The Congress, whose campaign was steered by Mr Bhajan Lal's arch political rival Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, secured the Gohana and Indri assembly seats humbling the two Bhajan loyalists Dharam Pal Malik and Rakesh Kamboj in their home constituencies.
In Adampur, Mr Bhajan Lal defeated his nearest rival Ranjit Singh of the Congress by a margin 26,188 while former finance minister Sampat Singh of the INLD was reduced to the third position.
Mr Bhajan Lal has been re-elected from this constituency after being disqualified under the anti-defection law for launching HJC in december last year while being in the Congress.
