16 injured as car hits sleeping pavement dwellers in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) As many as 16 people were injured when a car ran into sleeping pavement dwellers at Colaba here today.

The driver of the car, Siddharth Arish Ashar (33), lost control over the vehicle after hitting a road divider, police said.

Police said the injured had received only minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation. However, Ashar has had to be admitted to the Bombay Hospital.

Police have registered a case of reckless driving against Ashar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.
