Govt to reduce transmission loss by laying new lines
Thiruvananthapuram, May 24 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said the Government would take necessary measures to reduce the transmission loss by laying new lines in the state.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the Government would lay news lines across the state to reduce the transmission loss, which was Rs 1,800 crore per year.
Mr Balan claimed that the LDF had succeeded in reducing the transmission loss to 20 per cent from the 34 per cent recorded during the previous UDF regime.
The Government's objective was to reduce the transmission loss by 15 per cent through various effective steps, including laying new lines, he added.
The Electricity Minister said that the Government had signed a MoU with the Centre for releasing 696 mw power, including 266 from Koodamkulam thermal plant, to the state.
