Woman gives birth to a child inside a car

Kendrapada, May 23 (UNI) Traffic jam at the busy Paradeep- Daitary Expressway forced a pregnant woman to give birth inside a car.

Police today said the incident took place yesterday when the woman of Teragaon area under Marshaghai block was on her way to district headquarters hospital.

The vehicle was stuck in a traffic jam on Paradeep-Daitary Expressway, 15 Kms from here, as hundreds of chromite-ore laden truck did not allow the vehicle to proceed to the hospital.

The relatives accompanying the woman nursed her to deliver the baby inside the car amidst vehicle jam .

It may be noted here that a year back, a sick patient on way to the district headquarters hospital at Kendrapara died after the vehicle was struck up in the jam on the Paradeep-Daitary Expressway.

Everyday over 50,000 people depend on Paradeep-Daitary Express highway for communicating with Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Paradeep.
