Sunny morning at last but coolness in air remains

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) After four days of bountiful rains in the capital, Delhiites today woke up to a sunny morning even as heavy overnight rain maintained the coolness in the air, brought about by a prolonged spell of rain and thundershowers this week.

Meanwhile, heavy rain hit the city once again last night. A total of 35.1 mm of rainfall was recorded till 0830 hours.

The minimum temperature was recorded six degrees below normal at 21.2 degrees Celsius.

The sunlight notwithstanding, the city is likely to witness more spells of rain and thundershowers in the next couple of days.

Infact, the Met office have forecast a partly cloudy sky here during the next 24 hours with rain and thundershowers likely in a few areas and a rise in day temperature.

The city had witnessed a heavy spell of rains and thundershowers since the weekend, which brought the mercury plummeting to 25.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, 16 degrees below normal.
