BJP demands compensation to all riot and terror victims after 1984
New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The BJP today demanded that the Centre extends same compensation package to all riot and terrorism victims right from the 1984 Sikh riots, as was offered by the Cabinet to the Gujarat riot victims.
Reacting to the Cabinet announcing relief of over Rs 330 crore for the 2002 Gujarat riot victims, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the decision was taken during the Gujarat Assembly elections and now that the Lok Sabha elections are on the horizon, the Cabinet has taken a decision, he said.
''The government should not distinguish between terrorism and genocide victims right from 1984. We demand that all riot and terror victims be given the same package as offered to the Gujarat riot victims, he said.
