163 bootleggers held, 2,855 litre illicit arrack seized
Tiruchirapalli, May 23 (UNI) Police have arrested 163 bootleggers, including 54 women and seized 2,855 litre of lllicit arrack and 600 litre of fermented wash in simultaneous raids in various parts of this district.
Police said the raid was conducted yesterday in the wake of the recent hooch tragedy that had claimed more than 200 lives in Karnataka and neighbouring pockets of Tamil Nadu.
The raid was carried out simultaneously in the entire district involving most of the personnel in the 28 police stations in rural limits, police added.
