Six policemen arrested over hardened criminal's escape

Lucknow, May 22 (UNI) Six policemen, including one sub-inspector Sher Singh of Unnao, were arrested in Gurgaon, Haryana on the charge of dereliction of duty, following escape of hardened criminal Ajay Jadeja from their custody today.

Jadeja was one of the top criminals of western Uttar Pradesh with several chrages of murder, kidnapping against him.

He was lodged in Unnao jail and was being taken to Gurgaon to be presented in the local court, but on way he gave a slip to the police party. Earlier, he was in the Meerut jail before being shifted to Unnao jail.

Home Secretary Mahesh Gupta said that a case had been registered against the policemen followed by their arrest. A team from Unnao was sent to Gurgaon to effect their arrest, he said.
