Kristin Davis admits she's a recovering alcoholic

New York, May 22 : American actress Kristin Davis admits that she's fought a long and hard battle against alcoholism.

Davis, who is one of the stars of the "Sex and the City" series, is very serious about her drinking problem and refuses to join the others for a happy hour cocktail with her girlfriends.

"I'm a recovering alcoholic," New York Daily quoted 43-year-old Davis, as having recently told Health magazine.

The actress is very glad that unlike other celebrities, who are forced through rehab in the public eye, she was able to recover from her addiction before hitting the limelight.

Temptation for a drink is always there, especially on hard days, but she has learned her lesson well and is able to refuse to give in for even a single glass of wine.

"Why risk it?" is her motto when temptation arises.

Davis, unlike her co-star Kim Cattrall, leads a life separate from her character, the family-focused Charlotte York, in the series. To her, life means her career, and marriage and kids have no place in it.
