Girijans demand Tirupati Mayor Post, five acres land

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) The Girijana Aikya Vedika (GAV) today demanded the Andhra Pradesh government to allot Tirupathi Municipal Corporation Mayor post for Girijans and five acres of land to all Girijan families in the state.

Addressing the press here, GAV General Secretary K Vivek Vinayak urged all political parties to allocate seats to Girijans considering their population strength.

He also demanded that the govenrment should construct houses to all Girijan families through the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and give rights to Girijans on forest produce.

As per the Supreme Court Judgemnt, the govenrment should provide rights to Girijans on their farm lands, he added.

He said a state level convention would be held in Tiupathi to discuss various issues related to the community.
