Silver, gold opens firm on bullish global advice

Mumbai, May 21: Values of spot silver and gold today opened positive at Rs 24,675 per kg with a massive gain of Rs 700 per kg and for gold at Rs 12,780 per ten gm with a big gain of Rs 220 from their last close on reduced offers by stockists induced by bullish advice from London and Asian markets, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said.

In the Asian markets, gold quoted high at range of USD 920.20/920.80 per troy ounce and silver at USD 17.64/17.68 per troy ounce from their last finish which helped to boost in the domestic prices. Following were the opening spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 24,675 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 12,720 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 12,780.
