Patiala-Mohali match called off due to rain
Patiala, May 21 (UNI) Incessant rain rendered the pitch unplayable as the weak covers were blown away by strong winds on the first day of the crucial two-day match between Patiala and Mohali in the Inter-District Cricket Tournament for M L Markan Trophy here today at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
The umpires, Inder Mohan from Amritsar and Awashpal from Jalandhar, made repeated inspections and eventually called off play since the wicket was too wet for play, though the ground conditions were good enough.
The Patiala District Cricket Association must provide proper covers to the Stadium authorities so that this is not repeated at one of the oldest cricket venues in the country.
The pitch is so wet that even if the play kicks off tomorrow, it will be a delayed start.
