Pakistani woman undertrial collapses, dies

Amritsar, May 21 (UNI) A middle-aged Pakistani woman undertrial collapsed and died while being brought to the judicial court for a court hearing here this afternoon.

According to police, Rashida Begum collapsed at the entrance of the Central Jail, while being escorted along with two other Pakistani women undertrials to a van outside the prison premises.

She was immediately rushed to the civil hospital by the police guards, but doctors declared her brought dead.

Rashida along with two other women prisoners was arrested in 2006 at the Attari railway station and booked under the NDPS Act for possessing narcotics.

The trio were to appear before a judicial magistrate today in connection with the case.

The exact reason for the death would be known after the post mortem.
