Chandigarh, May 21: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh hooda today predicted that the Congress would win all the three assembly constituencies of Indri, Adampur and Gohana, where polling takes place tomorrow.
The Congress party would win all these three seats, including Adampur with handsome margins, he said while talking to mediapersons here.
The fight is for the number two spot between the other two parties, the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) and the INLD, he claimed.
When asked about the impact of the Congress in the Adampur constituency, which is said to be the citadel of former Chief Minister and HJC candidate Bhajan Lal, Mr Hooda said the seat had always remained a Congress stronghold. " It is not the case of an individual but of a party", he added.
The people in the State were satisfied with the pace of development and the manner in which a number of schemes had been implemented for the welfare of all sections of the society during last three years, he claimed. A three-fold increase had been made in the Plan Budget of the State to accelerate the pace of all round development, he added.
Emphasis had been laid on raising educational and socio-economic status of members belonging to Scheduled Castes and the poor, he said while also refering to the distribution of foodgrains at subsidised rates to the poor families. Haryana now ranks at number one in per capita investment in the country while earlier it was at the 14th spot, he added.
When his attention was drawn towards the observation of the opposition parties that the issue of inflation would adversely affect the prospects of Congress candidates in the byelections, Mr Hooda said that the Central as well as State Governments had taken effective steps to check it and the prices of many commodities, especially steel and vegetables had come down.
