Pondy DEO chairs delimitation meeting

Puducherry, May 20: Puducherry District Collector and District Election Officer (DEO) Thevaneethi Das today chaired a meeting on delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory.

The constituency-wise meeting was held after the authorities arranged polling booths in all the constituencies under the delimitation excercise.

Representatives of all political parties in the respective constituencies participated in the meeting and aired their views. Mr Das clarified to them and in some cases rearranged the polling booths as suggested by the parties.

While the number of constituencies in Puducherry region had gone up to 23 from the present 21, Karaikal and Mahe regions lost one constituencies each under the delimitation set up.

The voters list on the basis of the delimitation would soon be published.
