German, Indian army chiefs discuss terrorism, regional security

New Delhi, May 19 : Army chiefs of Germany and India on Monday discussed ways to cooperate on the issue of combating global terrorism and regional security issues. German Army Chief Lt General Hans Otto Budde held wide ranging talks with his Indian counterpart General Deepak Kapoor, Air Force Chief F H Major and Defence Secretary Vijay Singh.

Prospects of future defence cooperation between the two countries also figured in the talks.

India and Germany had signed a defence cooperation agreement in 2006 under which two countries established high powered committees to look into ways and means to intensify military-to-military relations and develop cooperation in defence industry.
