Agartala, May 19: Tripura police arrested four insurgents of Manipur-based outlawed People's Liberation Army (PLA) in separate places of Dharmanagar sub-division under North Tripura district last night.
Police today said that Mangaljoy Sinha, a Manipuri youth, was held late afternoon, when he was noticed moving suspiciously at a local bus stand. During interrogation Mangaljoy revealed that he belonged to PLA and had come here along with three others after being trained from their base camp in Bangladesh.
Subsequently, police had conducted raids in two other places of the town and arrested all three of them while a group of senior police officials from Crime Investigation Department had been interrogating them.
In another incident, Tripura State Rifles personnel at Champahaawr police station areas in West Tripura shot dead an ATTF militant within 24 hours of Monday encounter, in which a jawan had been killed.
Police said the TSR contingents were carrying out a massive manhunt in the hilly region of Champahaawr following Monday's shoot out, achieved success in Tuesday afternoon when they tracked down the militants.
In the ensuing encounter, a militant was killed and two AK-47 rifles, Chinese grenades and other incriminating documents were recovered from the spot while two other BNCT militants were arrested from Ashapurna Roaja Para in same district.
