Border trade with Myanmar affected due to stir
Imphal, May 19: Border trade with Myanmar was affected due to by agitating Imphal-Moreh Road Transporters JAC, who were protesting against monetary demands made by an outfit operating in the hill areas.
No vehicles plied between Imphal and Moreh thus affecting border trade with Myanmar at Moreh of Chandel district. The stir began today and is likely to continue for some time until the problem is resolved. Meanwhile, bus services along the Imphal-Churachandpur Tiddim road were also suspended for the second day today to protest the abduction of an official by unknown persons.
The stir had been called by the Tiddim Road Bus Transport Cooperative Society, Tiddim Road Bus Owners Society and the Association of Joint Coordinating Committee. The official who is a Station Master was identified as Yumkhaibam Thoiba.
