Rs 37 lakhs cash and 42 rounds of ammunition seized

Hubli, May 18 (UNI) Police today seized 37 lakhs cash, 42 rounds of ammunition were seized and 11 people were arrested in Gadag and Haveri Districts.

Police said that Rs 7.5 lakhs of cash, 42 rounds of ammunition and 50 lathis were seized from a van which was intercepted at Kalghatgi in the evening. Eight people were arrested in this connection. The culprits were carrying photograph of Anil Lad, Congress candidate for Bellary Assembly seat and his brother Santosh Lad is contesting from Kalghatgi for which election is scheduled on May 22 in the third and final phase.

In another incident, Haveri District police seized Rs 30 lakhs cash by waylaying a car at Tadas and arrested three persons in this connection.

Further investigation is in progress.
